The Computer Specialist

Computer Specialist is a small company that excels in upgrading, repairing and maintaining all makes and models of PC computers. I am knowledgeable with both Microsoft and Macintosh operating systems.
I also advocate the use of Open Source software in place of expensive commercial software.

I have a working knowledge of networking. I have experience with consumer broadband routers, and I have experience with sharing internet connections. I have also setup and secured wireless networks.

I am a CompTIA A+ Certified computer technician.
I've been performing computer service for clients in the GTA for 8 years. I can service PC and Macintosh computers for a wide variety of technical issues, including networking, software, hardware, and general computer maintenence.

House calls: $60 each hour, minimum 1 hour, maximum of 3 hours. Parts extra.

  • I go to your site, and perform any computer related tasks you require at a rate of $60/hour. On average, most calls take about 2 hours.

Work at my location: $75 flat, plus parts

  • Your computer comes to my location, and has service performed on it for a flat rate of $60, plus parts. We can then reserve a time for pick up. This can usually be within the next day.

If replacement components are required for any system repair, then I will contact before replacing the new components.

Customized Windows Installations: Starting at $60, price varies.

  • You supply your Windows XP or 2000 Software, and I customize the installer. This includes integrating service packs and updates, removing components, and can also include adding options to install third party software. In many cases, I can also integrate some hard disk drivers, simplifying windows setup (Most new computers ship with SATA, and require the user to press F6 during setup. This allows you to skip looking for a floppy, since windows will already have the drivers available).
For an additional charge, I can use DVD Media, which can allow for Office XP Installations. The price reflects a basic setup with integrated service packs and basic drivers, and optionally your pre-entered Windows product key.
You do not need to supply a product key, however you will need to enter one during Windows setup. This does not disable Product Activation.
